History

The original Royal Oak was built in 1822 as an inn and public house. In 1900 the new owners demolished the original structure and constructed the existing building as a station for a railway that never happened! The railway was planned to run between Tarporley and Mouldsworth, but was aborted by Railway Commissioners.

Since then the Royal Oak, has hosted a bowling green and billiards room in the 1930's, been a stop for many travellers who travelled along the old main road and since the completion of the bypass in 1986, it has become a relaxing place to dine.

In 2011 an extensive program of re-development saw the building sympathetically restored and re-furbished culminating in the launch of 12 sumptuously appointed bedrooms.

The Royal Oak now prides itself on serving high quality fresh food (using local suppliers), excellent service and offers 12 beautifully appointed bedrooms. We offer diners an exquisite experience in a relaxed and charming atmosphere and those staying over night a peaceful relaxing place to rest their heads.
